Library Rules And Regulations

 

1. Control Procedures

 

All students must present their currently validated library card as they enter the library.                   

Extramural users must present their I.D. and the letter of the introduction from the librarian of the institution where they are affiliated.

Students must leave their bags, attaché cases, folders and envelopes in the depository counter or in lockers; valuables should be brought inside the library. Library will not be liable for loss of the users personal things. Lockers are on a first come, fist served basis.

All library materials taken out from the library should be presented to the authorized person in charge at the circulation counter.

Upon exit users should present the borrowed materials to the authorized person in charge at the control desk

Users must show to the authorized person at the control desk the date due slip of every material to be taken out to ensure that the materials had been properly checked out at the circulation counter.

 

2. Borrowers Card/Library Card

 

  1. Digital library cards are issued to new students after filling up the Student’s Record Form and upon presentation of registration form and paying P20.00.

  2. Old students must validate/update their library cards every semester or summer term. They must present their registration form before their library cards are validated/ updated.

  3. A lost library card must be reported immediately to the librarian. Otherwise, the owner of unreported lost card will be held liable for whatever library materials on his/her name.

  4. A lost library card must be replaced one week after paying 30.00 for penalty and 20.00 for the amount of the card.

  5. The Library card is non transferable. Students found lending their borrower’s card/library card maybe deprived of their library privileges for a period specified by the College Librarian/(a weeks suspension for the first offense a month’s suspension for the second: and a whole semester suspension for the third offense.

  6.  Library cards are valid only for the current semester or summer term.   

 

3. Fines and Losses

 

3.1 For overdue circulation books a fine of P2.00/day is charged.

3.2 For reserve books, reference books and periodical a fine of 1.00/hour is charged.

3.3 Users who borrow books for photo copying purposes are allowed to keep the books for only an hour, beyond which a fine of 5.00/hour will be charged.

3.4 No clearance will be signed until fines and their accountabilities are settled.

3.5 For any loss of library materials, the borrowers must report the matter immediately to the librarian. Otherwise in addition to paying the lost of the book, the borrower will have to pay an overdue fine incurred until the loss is reported.

3.6 The borrower should replace the lost book with the same kind of book. However when said book is unavailable in bookstores, the borrower may look for other titles, provided it contains the same or related subject to the one being replaced.

  1. For any damaged materials, it reparable, the borrower is charged for the cost of the repair.

  2. Non –print materials may be borrowed by a professor for classroom instruction only.

  3. Students are allowed to use their personal laptop computers provided it is fully charged.  Charging of laptops or any electronic devices inside the library is not allowed.

 

Books Used In The Library

 

Books taken out from shelves or cabinets need not be reshelf after use by the user. These should be placed on the table. Library personnel will do the shelving.

  

The following types of materials are to be read only in the library:

           

  1. General references: encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases and yearbooks.

  2. Theses and dissertations.

  3. Periodicals, newspapers, magazines, and journals.

  4. Art collections and pictorial books.

  5. Vertical file materials: clippings, brochures, pamphlets, and newsletters.

  6. Maps, globes, and other non- print materials may be borrowed by professors for classroom instruction only.

  7. CD ROMs are for room use only.

 

  1. To Borrow A Circulation Book

 

4.1 Check the card catalog to see if the library has the book you need. Check under the author, title and possible subject entries.

4.2 Copy the call number, author, and book title.

4.3 Using the call number as guide, look for the book on the shelves. Ask for a library staff assistance if the book is out of shelf.

4.4 On the book card, write your name, the date you sign the book out and your library card number.

4.5 Present the book with the book card and your library card at the circulation desk for home use changing.

4.6 Two books (one Circulation and one Reserve) for home use may be borrowed within a loan period specified by the WVSU- Calinog Campus Library

(Circulation - 1 day, Reserve - overnight use only, Fiction - 5 days only).

 

  1. To Return A Circulation Book

 

5.1 Present the borrowed book at the Circulation desk.

5.2 Get your library card from the staff in-charge of the Circulation desk.

 

  1. To Borrow Materials For Photocopying

 

6.1 Fill up the photocopying slip and the book card of the book you wish to borrow for photocopying.

6.2 Present the book to the staff in-charge. An exit slip will be given to you.

6.3 Present this exit pass slip together with the book you wish to photocopy at the control desk.

6.4 Borrowed materials for photocopying should be returned in an hour.

 

  7. To Charge Out Reserve Books

 

7.1 Reserve books maybe charged out for overnight use at 3:00 pm from Monday to Friday and are due before 9:00 A.M. the following day.

7.2 Fines for reserve books borrowed after due time is P1.00 per hour.

 

8. To Use the Graduate School Section

 

8.1 Reserve books, journals, theses, dissertations/ research papers are for room use only.

8.2 Photocopying of theses and dissertations is not allowed.

 

 

Library hours:

 

Monday – Saturday – 7:00 AM -5:00 PM

                     (No noon break)

                                                                      

Closed on Sundays and Holidays

Note: Schedules are subject to change.

 

Other Services

 

  1. The librarians conduct a library orientation to students every opening of classes in coordination with the Dean and Professors.

   2. A list of new acquisitions is displayed on the bulletin board.

Guidelines for Faculty and Personnel

 

  1. All faculty and staff of WVSUCC are entitled to borrow library materials.

 

   2. For Reference use, faculty members and employees may loan as many as five books to eight books for a        semester. However, when the title has limited copies, and it is demanded for use by other clients, the borrowed materials will be recalled.

 

   3. Books borrowed for a semester must be returned before the semester ends. If the material will still be used, renewal of the material is mandatory but may be done only upon the physical presentation of collection/s to be renewed.

 

   4. Lost collection should be replaced with exactly the same material. If the lost collection is off the market, the College Librarian may accept a material with the same subject upon appraised.

 

   5. Faculty members are encouraged to recommend for purchase not only books relevant to course offering or related to subjects being taught, but also books that encourage cultural awareness and professional improvement to students.

 

   6. If faculty and staff request a representative to borrow or return for him a collection in the library, the same faculty is required to give the representative his authorization letter to be presented when borrowing or returning a collection.

 

   7. Faculty members and staff may borrow audio-visual materials for classroom use only.

 

   8. Signing of clearances requires the faculty and staff to return/replace/pay the borrowed lost collections at the University Library.

 

The faculty members/staff are allowed to borrow theses/dissertations for a maximum of 3 days only.
